A beautiful Igbo maiden coming back from the stream.

The Igbo people are an ethnic group in Nigeria. They are majorly found in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

Young maidens wear a short waist wrapper and a short top tied to cover their breast. They adorn their look with colourful beads around the waist and other decorations such as necklaces and beads.

Food processing and preparation were majorly the responsibilities of Igbo women. The young maidens will assist their mothers in preparing food by going to the stream along with their friends and fetching water used in cooking and washing.

This artwork shows the beautiful culture of the Igbo ethnic group and their maidens in particular.
