Roots

Roots recounts the tale of Kunta Kinte - a youngster taken from The Gambia when he was seventeen and sold as a slave - and seven ages of his relatives in the United States. Kunta has a normally troublesome however free youth in his village, Juffure. His village subsists on farming, and at times they need more food, as the climate is cruel. However Kunta is encircled by love and customs. One morning when he is cutting wood to make a drum, he is captured. After a terrible journey across the Atlantic, he is sold in Annapolis to John Waller. Kunta attempts to flee multiple times, and after the fourth endeavor part of his right foot is cut off.
