This CD is a biography of Oba Omowonuola.

The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Osun State, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin was born January 25, 1936. His mother told him he would be an Oba but he was very young then and took it for granted.

Before he was born, his mother was told she would give birth to an Oba. He, alongside some people who were already literally kings before the selection came to contest for the post of the Oba.

The people wanted to know who their next king would be, so they went to Iwo and consulted a priest. The prince told them that the person who was going to be their king was not in town.

He also told them that the person was not a tall man and his reign would be very long. This feature perfectly described the attributes of Oba Omowonuola.

The talking drum is one of the oldest musical instruments used by master drummers. It’s a highly stylized instrument that has its origin in the West African regions of Africa. The drum can be found in Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, and Nigeria. It is prominent among the Yoruba ethnic group but can be found in neighboring Nigerian countries like Togo and Benin Republic The drums are carved out of tree trunks and are made having an hourglass shape with long leather tension cords attached from the drum head to the base of the drum.
