Not by choice is a short story fiction centred around the life of an almajiri boy named Hassan who was taken away from his home to study the Quran in a different state. The scenes take the typical setting of the northern Nigeria, it sheds light on the challenges of the almajiri system of education as well as the living conditions of the almajiri boys.
